Meet Louise

Hi I’m Louise Gamble, an open water swimming coach and the person behind Wild in Scotland.

I’ve loved being outdoors and in the water for as long as I can remember. For me, open water swimming isn’t just something I do, it’s how I feel grounded and connected.

I’m an STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach with additional training in safety and first aid, so you’ll always be in safe, experienced hands.

I offer 1:1 coaching and structured courses to small group sessions in some of Scotland’s most beautiful outdoor locations. Whether you’re new to open water or looking to build on your experience, everything is designed to help you feel comfortable, capable and supported in the water.

Alongside coaching, I also work with retreat organisers and event hosts, providing guided swim experiences and consultancy to help create safe, well run open water sessions.

My approach is supportive and flexible. I’ll meet you where you’re at and help you progress at your own pace, whether that’s building confidence, refining your technique or simply spending more time in the water.

Want to know what it’s like to swim with Wild in Scotland?

"I was really nervous for my first swim as I’m not great with the cold. Louise made me feel comfortable straight away and helped me understand how to stay aware of how I was feeling in the water, including not letting myself get too cold.

She checked in with me throughout and encouraged me the whole time. I absolutely loved it and left feeling more confident.

I’ve now been for many swims and still love going with Louise. I always feel safer and more confident when she’s there."

Shannon, Clackmannshire

"I have always wanted to do cold water swimming but was apprehensive to give it ago. It wasn't until Louise spoke to me about the benefits and talked me through what to expect that I gave it a go.

I swim if I have had a tough week at work. When I start to swim all of those problems start to float away and it's totally forgotten about. I feel so much freer and it sets me up for the rest of the day with a smile on my face."

Jennifer, Stirlingshire

"I felt both excited and nervous when Louise took me for my first wild swim. She had prepared me well and made sure I had everything I needed, both for being in the water and warming up afterwards. I also hired a tow float because Louise believes that safety is just as important as enjoyment.

Louise was incredibly patient as I took my time getting fully into the water due to my fear of cold water shock. She reassured me while still letting me go at my own pace, staying with me throughout and keeping an eye on how I was feeling.

Her experience made it such an enjoyable swim that I’m now completely hooked. I swim all year round and still carry the safety awareness she taught me. I’d highly recommend her as a swim partner or mentor."

Lynne, Stirlingshire
