Wild Start

A gentle introduction to open water swimming

Wild Start is for anyone curious about swimming outdoors but not sure where to begin.

These 1:1 sessions are designed to help you feel safe, steady and supported as you take your first steps into open water. Whether you’re completely new or returning after a break, everything is paced around you, with clear guidance and no pressure.

You don’t need to be fast or experienced, just willing to give it a go.

What’s included

  • A one hour coaching session tailored to your experience and comfort level
  • A short pre-session guide so you know what to expect
  • A safety briefing before getting in the water
  • Support with entering and exiting the water safely
  • Kit advice, including wetsuit use and tow float guidance
  • Help with acclimatising to the temperature and environment

What you’ll need

  • Wetsuit
  • Tow float
  • Swim shoes or boots
  • Swim cap

How many sessions should I book?

For most people, two to three sessions work well. This allows time to build confidence gradually, cover the basics without rushing and feel more comfortable in the water.

Important to know

You should be able to swim at least 200 metres. If I haven’t swum with you before, we’ll do a gentle check in your first session to make sure you feel comfortable and safe.
