My Story
Where it all started
My first wild swim was on a cold, wet October day at Loch Venachar. The water was choppy, I was nervous, and I had no idea how much that one swim would change things.
I was hooked. Something about being in the loch, outside, moving, breathing, just clicked. Over time, swimming outdoors became a steady part of my life and eventually led me to train as an STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach, mentored by an Olympic swimmer.
My background is in archaeology and sustainable development, and I still carry those values with me. I believe we should leave nothing behind but ripples in the water and take away only memories.
Through Wild in Scotland, I want to help people experience open water in a way that feels safe, supported and genuinely enjoyable. Whether that’s building confidence, developing skills or simply spending more time in the water, my aim is to make it accessible and welcoming.
I’m also building something wider, creating opportunities for shared swims, courses and events, and working with others to bring safe, well run open water experiences to more people.
If any of this speaks to you, I’d love to welcome you in, whether that’s in the water or as part of something we’re building.
